Alex Bayer is a New York based documentary editor and director. His work has been nominated for multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, including one win for Best Documentary Series (lead editor for HBO’s 100-Foot Wave), along with nominations for the HPA Awards and ACE Eddie Awards. He received a nomination for Outstanding Editing for a Documentary (100 Foot Wave).

His other works have been shortlisted for the Academy Awards (The Bibi Files, The Witness), winner of the Sundance Audience Award (This is Home), Grand Jury Prize winner at the Nashville Film Festival (The Oratorio), Official Selections for the Tribeca Film Festival (Beyond the Notes and Famous Nathan), Official Selections for Sundance Film Festival (Newtown, This is Home) and Official Selection at the Hamptons Film Festival (Killer Bees).

Alex is a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE), a founding member of the New York ACE Documentary Editor Subcommittee, a voting member of the Television Academy, and a judge for the News and Documentary Emmy Awards.

Alex is also a performer and composer of music, with several of his pieces being featured in his films. He has an insatiable love for history, an irreverent sense of humor, two cats and a dog.
